There are various different kinds of acid reflux over the counter mediations that one can now use to help treat this particular stomach condition. These treatments such as Tagamet, Axid, Pepcid and Zantac contain ingredients, which actually help to prevent the secretion of acid in the stomach. But although they are effective, they do not relieve the symptoms as quickly as antacids do.

Although H2 blockers take longer to work they are in fact are more effective than antacids at helping to provide relief for much longer. But just as with the antacids, these medications can cause a person to suffer from unwanted side effects, especially if they choose to take them for any extended periods of time. Although the acid reflux over the counter medications that we have discussed in this article have been proved to be effective at relieving the symptoms of this condition, they do not provide you with a cure.
