How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks – Is It Possible?

by Shauna Bradell

How to hide stretch marks? Stretch marks are the bind of women, bodybuilders and any person who has suffered from fast weight gain. Those nasty little red lines that fade almost into a become a veritable nightmare when it comes to wearing beach-wear, or nightwear that is even remotely revealing; however, if you know how to take care of yourself, then it really is not so much as a ‘how do I hide stretch marks’ but more of a, ‘I can hide these!’. OK, so you aren’t going to be able to remove them completely from sight overnight, but you can definitely reduce how vividly they appear when you’re wearing something revealing.

It is a known fact that the most pleasurable pastimes bring stretch marks, eating, pregnancy, and bodybuilding; so there are bound to be repercussions if it means enjoying yourself! Seriously though, if you can manage to keep your skin supple with a combination of healthy eating and drinking, then you’re already halfway to hiding stretch marks anyway – by eliminating them. Our skin needs to be as toxin free as possible to retain and increase its elasticity, and it is when this elasticity breaks down we get stretch marks – so it’s logical to assume if we can help it become stronger and more flexible, then we can help our stretch marks go away, or at least minimize them .

I probably get ten or twenty emails a day asking me if I have any household remedies to get rid of stretch marks, so let me share a few here. These aren’t guaranteed, and their success rate depends on who you talk to. My mom swears by the olive oil way, but my mother-in-law and my sister both say she’s crazy…they say egg whites are the number one cure. I’ve also heard vitamin E creams, cocoa butter, shea butter, and jojoba…just to name a few. The secret to these homemade remedies is (a. a little luck or a prayer and (b. correct application. Aim for that period in time right after you bathe or shower…perfect time to get your skin to soak up the ingredients necessary to fight the battle against stretch marks.

A very common and probably the most used method of hiding stretch marks, is to apply sunless tanning products to the marks you need to hide. Yes, you read right, and it does work as a temporary solution. Tanning naturally just will not do it, stretch marks tend to evade the sun’s positive effects, and the marks stand out even more! Face powder and foundation is another useful concealing method a lot of women use to try and combat stretch marks temporarily. Anything which contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) is a good product to use on stretch marks while you fight the battle to hide them, AHA’s very gently strip the top layer of skin cells allowing new ones to come to the surface – the chances are, if you’re eating healthily and applying a good cream to increase the elasticity that a few layers down the good skin is going to arise and be victorious.
