Skin-Care – Prevent Acne before it happens
For most of us that take pride in the way we look, the thought of suffering with acne or Zits, may at first seem awful; but things are gradually improving for sufferers. It is one of those areas where research has continued to make advancements; this is good news with the range of effective skin care treatments improving all the time. Despite the number of acne skin care products currently available on the market, they are broadly categorized into three distinctly separate groups:
Preventative: Creams, lotions etc. to help cleanse and tone the skin
Prescription only: From a doctor or dermatologist for more serious conditions
Prescription: Issued for specialized medication from a doctor etc.
Many skin care products are used as a measure to prevent acne; for example, special toners and skin cleansers. In the real sense, these products are just those that should be part of your daily routine; many use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition. Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint; they are formulated to reduce and limit the amount of oil in the pores of our skin. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow.
General skin care treatments also include special exfoliation products like skin peels; these are easily obtainable in any drug store. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development. Many different, specially formulated acne skin care products designed to reduce the problems have now been made available without prescription. These formulations contain the chemical benzoyl peroxide and the naturally occurring salicylic acid; these include products which extract the unwanted oil from the skin.
It is preferable when you first start using this type of product to keep the concentration of it low, around 5.5 percent is best; if a reaction occurs, a cleaner or cream containing alpha hydroxy acid should be safe. Because we all have different types of skin, more than one type of acne skin care product may need to be tried; if none of them work then you would be advised to contact your skin specialist. If you do need to see your doctor or skin care specialist then he may give you a prescription for antibiotics or special ointments.
Under certain circumstances, having the infected material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic may be suggested by your dermatologist; never try to squeeze your zits however, as it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. Another effective course of skin care treatment is hormone therapy; this type of skin care treatment has been very effective in many cases. Positive research means that a sufferer does not have to put up with this condition anymore.
