Easter Gift Ideas

by Isis K. Nouvelle

Easter is a traditional Christian celebration of the time when Jesus Christ was crucified on Good Friday, only to return to life three days later on Sunday. Easter ends the period of Lent that began on Ash Wednesday. Lent is meant to be a period of atonement, to allow churchgoers the chance to prepare for the church’s most important festival of the year.

Eggs are by far the most identifiable sign of Easter and also a main Easter gift. The egg is intended to symbolize new life. Since days gone by, eggs have been embellished and dyed with beautiful or bright colors. Eggs are also used in games for this special occasion.

Each Easter season we generally bring our relatives and acquaintances milk chocolate rabbits or jelly beans. It’s a yearly occurrence. We all pull our chairs up to the dining table and happily consume lots of hard boiled eggs. Custom requires giving small tokens to spread the joy around. These are generally various candies made in the shape of eggs

Another good Easter gift is a big, fluffy man-made bunny. Children will want to hold the bunny when they go to sleep, while adults will also enjoy holding a soft bunny. Such a gift allows you to tell the recipient that you love them in a special way, and they you want them to have a happy Easter.

Plants can also be used in similar ways. For instance, you may want to give a spring flower in a flowerpot instead of cut flowers. Hyacinths, crocuses, tulips, and certain grasses with fake chickens may make good gifts. Plants generally improve a house’s appearance by giving it a more natural look.

The Easter Lily is the blossom that is most frequently brought as a present at Easter time. It has both a pleasing shape and a pleasant scent. Choose one that looks good on all sides. You want one which has proper proportions and is not overly low or overly high. Florists offer lovely blossoms during this season, and delivery is invariably included. They arrive boxed, with a custom gift card and a sheet that tells the recipient how to arrange and care for them.

A doorstop is a perfect gift too, perhaps one in the form of a bushy tailed rabbit or a proud rooster. Any house can use one and these shapes are reminders of springtime no matter what the actual season. You might want to consider something to decorate the property with, such as a pretty wreath for the outside of the front door. It’s a very nice way to greet guests who come visiting. They are often handmade with fresh leaves and other plants entwined, and they lend an appealing touch to the house.
