You can also go for so called floor supported garage shelves. To use floor supported shelves, you need to consider the height of the walls and the depth of the shelves, to make sure they can accommodate what you need them to hold.
In fact, what you want to put on your garage shelves dictates a lot of things about your shelves. If you’re going to be storing lots of little, bitty things, make sure the nails aren’t so close together that they won’t let you set these things flat. If you’re going to storing big, heavy things, make sure you shelves can support them and that the shelves are not so high that you can’t get your things down safely.
The best choice for prefabricated garage shelves has to be Steel shelves. If you are storing lightweight things, then plastic shelving may be ok, but if your shelves will be storing anything heavy, go for the steel. Steel does have its downside: it can’t be cut to meet your needs, so you will have to find precut pieces that work for you.
